My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #140.
Gray Hairsteak:
Common Buckeye:
When I saw this flying around the W and O.D. Trail, I thought it was a hover fly due to its flying skills. Turns out it is a small wasp known as a Beewolf:
Tiger Swallowtail:
Snowberry Clearwing Moth, Hemaris diffinis:
For Anni's I'd Rather B Birdin', I have this male Goldfinch. The Goldfinches and the one Monarch I saw this week were sticking to the few remaining flowering thistles. Most other butterflies and bees were loving the teasels.
I was going to save this male Cardinal for Good Fences, but I have plenty of pictures for Thursday and not many birds. So here he is:

Hello, I love all the butterflies and the clearwing video, great sightings. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
Beautiful butterflies and birds.
Wow! These are amazing photos!
The bright red cardinal bird on the fence makes me think Christmas!
A great series of photos!
Have a wonderful week-end!
They really are beautiful photos. I worked on some butterfly photos today...trying to make them a little sharper! lol It's not an easy subject to photograph! You did great! Hugs!
I was not familiar with the beewolf. Love his name!
A delightful selection of beautiful critters. Your hummingbird moth is totally fascinating, as was that very interesting video. Thanks for sharing :)
Hello!:) The Buckeye butterfly is one we don't see over here in Portugal, what a beauty, and beautifully photographed. Loved all your butterfly, bird, and moth photos and really enjoyed the video of this amazing creature.
A bit unusual you had only the single Goldfinch? By now we have family parties forming into autumn flocks. Good to see your American version though.
They are all beautiful. They always bring a smile to our face when we see them!
awwwwwwww
I enjoyed visiting with your critters.
lovely photos of your insects and birds
Great butterfly series!
And, always so good to see the Cardinals!!
Have a Happy Week!
Peace :)
Pretty, colorful birds!!!
And, I enjoyed the butterfly images too.
Thanks so much for stopping by and linking in this weekend at I'd Rather B Birdin'...it's always greatly appreciated.
Bees have a hard enough time without wasps hunting them. Our wasps are mainly yellow jackets and a few paper wasps. Right now they are flying all the time making it hard to eat our dinner outdoors on the picnic table. - Margy
I love all the details in these photos! The enjoyed watching the video too.
These could not BEE any nicer! Thanks for sharing with us
Great series of photos and I do not like that wasp! Yikes!
Beautiful insect images!
As always, great captures. (PS. You said 'hairsteak'. Teehee.)
