November 23 Birds and N.S.F.H. Day
P.S. I declare November 23 of every year to be N.S.F.H. Day (National Slap Fred Hiatt Day). Here are just the latest reasons why: Exhibit 1, Exhibit 2, Exhibit 3, Exhibit 4, and of course, everything the wanker has ever scribbled himself. If you see this man on the street, at a store, or in a restaurant, rear back and slap him as hard as you can.

Do Fish Wear T-shirts?
I linked to Matt Taibbi's mock JP Morgan haiku contest at Jennifer's, and she noted...
Matt Taibbi: The entry by "Fish" I liked because of the clever Twitter-age five-syllable ending – this is like one of those actual Japanese haikus where a single sound symbol may count as two on:
Alas, feesh did not win one of the two t-shirts. But keep living the dream, feesh!

You're Gonna Have To Serve Some Birdie
Here's a Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. I can't remember seeing one on the feeder before.
P.S. For my sister:

BirdsDogsMoon
Carmi's photo theme this week is no theme. That's fine, I'd use any theme as an excuse to post pictures of birds and dogs anywho. Plus...The M-O-O-N!

Fire and Moon Power
Thematic Photographic 268 - Power
Used properly, it can keep you warm.
Here's a picture of the M-O-O-N and Venus from Wednesday, November 6.
The moon powers the tides here on earth. That's my excuse for posting this picture of Lake Siri. (Not that Lake Siri is much affected by the moon.)
Other Birdness:

Golden Glow Two, Marbled Orbweaver, My Left Foot, etc.
That golden glow, Part II.
I think this week marked the peak of fall color here in Berkeley Springs. The leaves are still changing color, but they've also been dropping from the trees at a rapid rate.
Here is Lake Siri in the morning:
How about a Marbled Orbweaver? (P.S. I don't recall ever seeing the word "Hoarctic" before.)
Would you believe Muscovy ducks by Lake Siri nibbling on my left foot?
Other Birdness:
A Tufted Titmouse for BBBB:
