I clicked on my spam filter yesterday, just for the halibut. Here's a typical sample:
However, I also found this:
ZRM and J—, at long last your comments have been freed!
Everybody sing along now...and take note of the youtube comments!
P.S. I just realized you won't see the youtube comments unless you doubleclick the video and open it up at youtube, so...

ZRM shows up in my spam all the time... even though he's been approved as safe. Apparently my spam knows something I don't.
Jennifer, commenters show up in a spam folder in Typepad? I didn't know Typepad did that! Is it an automatic thing? Or do you have to approve people as "safe"? Maybe I have all kinds of comments I don't know about somewhere!! :)
zombies are still openly discriminated against.
I didn't know J— was a zombie. Also.

I'm no zombie. Tonight I'm Richie Havens!
Jennifer, commenters show up in a spam folder in Typepad?
No, ZRM often shows up in my junk mail in my regular email (sometimes his comments as well). I think the internets hasn't fully embraced zombies yet.
This has been flagged as spam
oddly enough, some breathers show up in MY lunchmeat as well.
I'm gonna spam various websites with photos of the Union Jack to see if they are flagged as "Flag".
If you'll recall, the big evil in King's "The Stand" was called "Flagg". So, one can only wonder, if his community in Las Vegas hadn't been nuked by god, would they have ended up with broadband service and then hit with a Denial of Service attack?
Because then you would find that your comments had been Spammed as Flagg...
You bring up something which has been bothering me. Why all of the comment SPAM all of a sudden? Literally within the last 6 months I've been getting tons of it. Maybe I was getting it before but never noticed since it's mostly on ancient comment threads and I wasn't moderating comments before (and also ... what is the point of SPAMMING a dead comment thread? Hello?)
Here's another weird thing, just as I noticed the tremendous uptick in comment SPAM, Blogger initiated its new commenting features--the SPAM folders and all of that. Which I found odd. Were people suddenly complaining about comment SPAM?
Here is something I would like Blogger to do: instead of individually closing of old comment threads, which is you've got a blog that's been around even a couple years is a huge hassle, how about letting us close off comments on all threads older than, say, 3 months? Just a suggestion.
I don't get comment SPAM. What is the point? I get a lot of the "Hey this is so interesting thanks!" and then a link to some porn site or some such. Does this not carry the whiff of desperation?
SB, I have comment moderating for posts older than 21 days, and no moderation for posts newer than that.
It seems to work pretty well. I only now realized that I need to take a look in the spam filter every once in a while to see if some Zombie or Richie Havens is caught in there.

SLANDER!!!!
Yeah but I get Spam on all of my comments, new ones and old ones. I don't mind moderating all comments especially since I've been such a troll magnet. What I want to do is completely close commenting for all threads over a certain age. They're basically dead, anyway. Legit commenters focus on the most recent threads and ignore everything else.
Graham Chapman's ear-bleeding "I DON'T LIKE SPAM!" kills me every time.
Legit commenters focus on the most recent threads and ignore everything else.
you obviously don't frequent 3Bulls.
hah!! I can comment freely now!!
you know what comes next......I HAVE BEEN VIIIIIIIINDICATED!!!!!!
ZRM is BANZOORED.

Well, frankly, that seems to be a very good reason to want to enlarge it. Even a little bit...
