Festivus Animals and Motivational Poster
Err, Day AFTER Festivus Animals:
I've prepared thispic instructional poster due to popular confusion regarding the Red-bellied Woodpecker's nomenclature. Sure, its red head is quite noticeable...but is it more so than that of the Red-headed Woodpecker? I'd call it the "Fancy Zebra Jacketed Woodpecker", but the Golden-fronted Woodpecker has one, too. So here we are:

Treetops and Wrens
Carmi's Thematic Photographic 272 is Treetops . We had snow in the treetops(again) Saturday evening.
A bit lower than the treetops:
Way above:
At least one of the local Carolina Wrens* has started visiting the suet feeder:
* Thanks to JohnR for correctly identifying the moth-eater in this post as a Winter Wren.

Red-bellied Woodpeckers DO Have Red Bellies
Sure, the red head is much more prominent...but many woodpecker species also have red heads.

Carolina Wren and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Carolina Wrens come around the house each morning looking for moths and spiders.
How about your right profile, Mr. Yellow-bellied Sapsucker?
Thanks!
