Sunday Butterflies

Butterfly pictures taken Sunday and posted on Monday, that is.

Eastern Comma, Polygonia comma

Note that the above could possibly be Question Marks, Polygonia interrogationis. The advice on differentiating the two is less helpful than it appears.

Red Admiral, Vanessa atalanta

ZRM has some pics of more exotic butterflies from warmer places.

(Mouse over pics for captions, and open them in another window for larger versions. In fact, you might even be able to see the expressions on their faces.)

UPDATE: Just for the halibut, here's a couple more.

I hope the Polygonia genus includes further punctuation marks.

Ampersands would be nice.

I think more butterfly names should include interrobangs.

Heck, I find it to be a bit suspicious that thunder has not added one to his nym.

I saw a beautiful Buckeye when mowing the lawn. I need to shoo it away. And I think a Red Admiral also flitted by.

The expressions on their faces show theyre annoyed you're all up in their grills.

Especially gorgeous batch. The composition is pretty great in all these.

The third and fourth one are especially awesome.

Not yet, Jennifer. It appears they like to hang out by hamburger trees?

Of course, I haven't seen a Buckeye butterfly yet, either. Good to know that Pinko land hasn't (yet) turned into a desert wasteland.
