The music is still fun on a Friday morning.

The totally cool synchronized swaying to and fro of the guitar players really makes that first video for me. Wow, are they rocking hard.

Good grief, it's Friday morning?

I have to make the trek back East. Along with several bazillion other people.

Watch out, highway!

vs, I think that video was made before guitar players learned they were supposed to make a scrunchy face (at least while playing solos).

One of my favorite instrumentals is the earnest, gloriously goofy Telstar- it's like outer space surf music.

El Snacktator showed me the translation of the Carving "All Virtues are credible until the time that they are tested", and asked if its a wrong or a correct translation. I just copy what I answered to El: Yes, it is. "Credible" is here the translation for "Fleckfrei", very interesting. "Fleck" is a point of dirt, a bead. "befleckt" is blotted, not clean anymore. "Fleck-frei" is therefore free of dirt: credible.
My translation would be: "Every virtue is free of maculate until the moment of its test."

Seemed to me that "the time that they are tested" was a weak translation of "den Augenblick der Probe"... 'the time' is vague, it could be a period of any length, while 'moment' or 'instant' has a precise sense of "credibility right up to a moment of sudden transition". So I quibbled.

Also winding up ITTDGY with random pedantry is always fun.

@smut clyde: I agree. Tenses are always one of the most difficult things to translate, even among related languages.
IMHO the carvings in the newer post are much more suspicious...

More accurate: 'Any virtue is untarnished until the moment it's tested.'

Though I prefer: 'Each and every virtue is unstained until the moment of truth.'
