I had one of those funky moth/hummingbird hybrids (hawkmoth, per Smut)on my asparagus the other day, but couldn't get the camera fast enough.

thunder- you said you've seen few goldfinches this year? We have a bazillion as usual. I guess we owe our voluntary thistle crop for that.

Thanks, Karin!

Jennifer, I generally don't see them often downtown in Columbus (not that many thistles). But I have seen them...

S_McG (IF that is your real name!), I've heard that hawkmoths go better with Brussels sprouts.

Hmmm.

Some of those butterflies seem to be playing somewhat fast and loose with the taxonomy...

Birds are starting to scare me as much as bats, rats, mice, squirrels, chipmunks, and raccoons.

I believe I may need help.

The cat caught a couple of mice in my house recently, and after I came back from the hotel, and decided against selling, I now have my 16 YO do a cursory tour of the downstairs before I will get out of bed.
Whaddya think?

Pretty sure you could do something with EasyOff and Clorox that will eliminate the problem pretty much for good.

Umm, you might want to make sure you have a tank of O2. Just in case. You know....

So, do we bury our heads, pull on the invisibility cloak, or fight like hell for our country, or fight like hell for our own survival?

Yes, kitties, birdies, great artists, I'll take any beauty at this point.
