Ashburn, Virginia Critters

My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #135. This Ashburn Bambi is less than a 100 yards from where I took videos of one who kept on eating while I was just ten feet away. (But this one didn't let me get close, i.e. behaved typically.)

This is probably a Familiar Bluet (other possibilities here):

My sister uses this dish to give the birds water:

The other night was so hot, this toad decided to take a dip and stayed there.

By the way, I uploaded the 4th video from that set I mentioned. Except it's the 1st because I uploaded them in reverse order. So I renamed them. You can see Bambi doesn't mind poison ivy one little bit.

I'm also linking to Anni's I'd-Rather-B-Birdin'. I've been trying to get some birdie pics these past few days, but no luck. So here are some older ones I haven't used before.

i agree with your sis on amelia. :) i have a pan of water on my side deck that deflects the heat from the dryer vent and catches the lint that flies out. the toads use it every night as their own spa. :)

I haven't snatched a shot of a dear in ages.

I like the idea of the toad staying cool in the water dish.

The deer...wow!!!
And the toad...cute!!
No matter if you use photos shared before, it's always good to see. This isn't a good season for birding anyway...not much activity other than the parents trying to raise young....those monstrous appetites keep them distant from our lenses.

Thank you for sharing these amazing images with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin' this week!! You're always appreciated!

Too bad the birds don't always oblige. I know the feeling. Thank goodness for my archive pics. Your'pecker is rather nice though.

I saw my first damselflies of the season today. They are very mellow insects, they often land on people, which I love. Damselflies can piggy-back on me any day.
