My contibution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #130.
This is a sweat bee on a thistle flower, I believe (my guess is Halictus ligatus).
Here's an Ashburn chippie:
And a Peck's Skipper:
I'm also contributing to Anni's I'd Rather B' Birdin'. This pair of mockingbirds were having a face-off on the access to the Washington and Old Dominion Trail. Every once in a while, they'd fly 3 or 4 feet up in the air, but still face to face and not giving an inch.
They reminded me of The Zax by Dr. Seuss:
The day before today,One day, making tracks
In the prairie of Prax,
Came a North-Going Zax
And a South-Going Zax.
And it happened that both of them came to a place
Where they bumped. There they stood.
Foot to foot. Face to face.

Hello, great post. I love the mockers, the chippie and the skipper. Dr. Seuss is cool! Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Sunday, enjoy your day and the week ahead!
Love the Seuss addition....and the FACE OFF of the mockingbirds. What great timing in that capture.
Thanks so much for dropping by to add your link at I'd Rather B Birdin' this time 'round...it's always appreciated.
Lovely little critters, great photos and a fun addition at the end.
too funny!
Lovely little critters.
I love the mockers, the chippie and the skipper.
Best regards, Irma
Funny at the end. Brilliant images.
Cute critters. I enjoyed your post very much!
Awesome images! And love the humour at the end! Have a beautiful week!
Very pretty flowers.
You sure know your insects. Like those mockingbirds squaring up for a ding-dong.
Ringing birds is a very quick process, less than minute to age, sex, ring, weigh and release. I'm sure the birds have no lasting memory of this, otherwise why would we catch resident birds many times? Most migratory birds we see on the one occasion only unless someone many miles away recaptures one.
Lovely images! Especially you captured such a sweet squirrel on the wood!
LOVE Dr. Suess!
A most happy and wonderful post! I wonder what those two birds are saying to each other? Your color in nature is simply lovely to see here.
hehehe, dr. suess, i am such a huge fan!! nice captures!!!
Splendid skipper. The Dr. was the best. Thanks for sharing.
What a pressy thittle! I love the chippie on the log, and the mockingbirds are great.
You are the go-to guy for chipmunks!

Great description of the birds. Dr. Seuss is a bonus.
Ha! That's a funny way of looking at the photo. Great correlation.
