How do you know what these things are? Never heard of nor seen that remarkable wasp before.

Can't you get a wireless wasp?

Sweet little toad!

We had one of those ichneumon wasps flying around the office a couple of days ago. I prefer them being outside, even though I don't freak out at the bugs.

I've been stung by ichneumons a couple of times and it stings like taxes. Guess I should be grateful that the little buggers did not then drag me off to their nest and inject me with eggs so the larvae could eat me alive.

I've seen Ichneumon wasps before, but never one like this.

It did not fly fast or evasively...in fact, its flight makes a carpenter bee look like a dragonfly. But fly it did...with a six to eight inch ovipositor trailing behind.

You're right, Thunder, that IS a better use for the foot. And you have very neat, clean sneakers.

I consider that having to haul around an ovipositor that's longer than one's body is one of Ma Nature's more absurd penalties for being a member of a particular gender.
