This storm hit Berkeley Springs before continuing on to D.C. Nature wants you dead, as M.B. says.
We lost power a little after 10 P.M. Friday, which I'm guessing is around when this tree fell across the power lines along Cold Run Valley Road.
Saturday, a little after noon.

Nine hours later, and some helpful person(s) has stretched some red tape across the road. SAFETY FIRST!

P.S. It's been while a since Jennifer was helped.

I'm guessing the spider doesn't much care either...
That spider looks friendly. Like he'd give you good advice about silly things.
Glad you're ok, thunder! We are so lucky here. So many people are still without power. Ours just flickered on and off a few times Fri night, but came back on fast. LUCKY!! I am so spoiled and get so panicked when the electricity goes out. Like... I CAN'T DO ANYTHING I WANT TO DO!
But I try not to be that way.
It's pretty nifty to have a.c. when you want to go to sleep and it's this hot outside, b.g.
And when you want to blog about it.
I wonder if that tree is still there? If it is, you have to backtrack and circle around through downtown Berkeley Springs to get from here to our house.

A crazed storm just passed mere miles to the south of me so all is still well here... or was, until I saw that spider. I'm glad I didn't visit you when we were passing through.
Would you believe a snapping turtle, Jennifer? How about a woodchuck?
Bonus Sunday Critters added, all from the Cacapon State Resort golf course this afternoon.
~
Wait, groundhog = woodchuck? Stupid animals.
All SoCal has are frogs, lizards, snakes, rats, mice, rabbits, gophers, 'coons, possums, skunks, deer, coyotes, bobcats & mtn. lions. (Never seen a local mtn. lion or bobcat [=lynx, hunh] in person, but there are photos.)
That spider is not on my approved list. And it jumps? Jennifer may not be entirely wrong.
No, she's wrong. She should have stopped by.
;-)
You'd jump too if Thundra and the devil dawg showed up.
IF! THIS IS JESUS, IF. YOU'RE ON THE INTERNETS TOO MUCH AS IS. AND FROM NOW ON, STOP PLAYING WITH YOURSELF.
I'm not sure if there is Dog, R.G.

YOU TOOK MY POWER!!!
My mom was without power from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. She told me that the lightning was so intense, she could have read a book by its light.
The lightning was crazy. It was also amazing how fast it came in. It went from a pleasant night to a maelstrom in a matter of minutes.
We had no power for about 1.5 days. Long enough when the temps hit 100...
Last I checked (last night), there was still no power for anyone on the mountainside.
But they did finally cut up that tree and clear the road.

Hurray the whiskey truck can get through!
Today The Lovely Daughter could not see the lions at the zoo because the access path to it was flooded.
