Potomac River at Hancock, Maryland

Random Fact
! The state of Maryland narrows to less than two miles wide in the Hancock area—the smallest non-vertex border-to-border distance of any U.S. state. It is at the junction of Interstates 68 and 70.

The Familiar Bluet and Hagen’s Bluet are so close in appearance, if they haven't been given an expert examination in the hand with a magnifying glass, they should be recorded as Enallagma civile/hageni.

Horace's Duskywing (Erynnis horatius). That's my guess, anyways. Other candidates are Wild Indigo Duskywing and Meridian Duskywing.

Sweet, did you do any canoing/kayaking?

No, the canoe lives in the "canoe room", aka the front bedroom in the basement. It's a tough, 2-person task getting that in and out of there.

Have you Paw Pawwed? Worth the trip. (The whole canal between Hancock and Cumberland is nice).

No! Not enallagma civile/hageni!

What is the forest guardian thing?

I love the one where the autumn colors are starting to appear. I'm seeing that as well these days and it so looks to me like the subtle color changes in a painting... just a little mars violet added to that sap green.

Classic built-a-boat-in-the-basement scenario, eh?

Fabulous pics of butterflies. And the other stuff too.

Had to look up 'vertex', sounded to me like some kind of man-made textile.

Ent is gall, OK. Upsidedownies!

I think that's the same tree from the first Evil Dead movie.

Great pictures, thunder.
