Curvaceous

Thematic Photographic 248 - Curvaceous

This statue is in front of the Ohio Statehouse. I think that is General William Tecumseh Sherman in front.

This curvaceous rock is in the Grand Canyon. I took the picture in 2009.

Amazing - hard to beat that canyon for curves. And sharp, pointy bits in places. It is so long since I was there - still remember it well, though. Thanks thunder. That's an interesting memorial statue thing, too.

I love the picture of the Grand Canyon! It's so vast and the formations are really something :)

How were those circular formations done? In the UK, if we saw those on top of a hill or mountain we would assume they were Iron Age Hill Forts! But anything in the US is on a far greater scale, so I guess they must be natural!

Gilly, they were formed by the erosion of the Colorado river over the course of 17 million years.

I don't like the word 'awesome' but that Grand Canyon really is.

In the course of a road trip, my college roommates and I decided to put on a "unimpressed" pose as a running joke. We'd pull into a town and say, "So this is Fort Stockton? B.F.D." When we got to the Grand Canyon, we just couldn't do it. In the face of such grandeur, it's impossible to be snarky.

Sherman, now that's a name the folk in Atlanta love to hear.

Did you ever see the movie "Sherman's March" by Ross McIlwhee (sp?). Brilliant, indie stuff.
