Gray Catbird

My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #149. This is a Red-eared slider from Ashburn earlier this month.

A couple days later, I saw the turtle sunning on the bank:

Also from earlier this month, a Common Buckeye:

I'm also linking to Anni's I'd Rather B Birdin'. Both mockingbirds and catbirds were all over the pokeberries earlier this month, but the catbirds were too shy to let me get a decent pic. Turns out I got one after all.

Mouse over pics for captions, and click them for larger versions.

jealous of the catbird sighting! and love the northern turtles - their shells are so shiny and clean. here they're gunked up with algae.

Ha ha Mr Catbird, you can't hide from an intrepid and talented photographer forever! Very nice. I love that butterfly and he isn't common (to me) at all! Sweet turtle -- we do see those around here (still in Oregon) but they are invasive (escaped or abandoned pets, not supposed to be here).

All great critter photos but your turtle out sunning is my favorite of them all. So cute seeing his little head bobbing too!

Love to find catbirds when they sing their call...they're so aptly named!! And your buckeye is such a perfect image.

I'm a bit late visiting this week, but I wanted to send along my thanks for sharing this with us birders at I'd Rather B Birdin'. Hope your day is a happy one.

The local catbirds here are brassy, sassy little things. I love them intensely.
