Like Birds In The Wilderness

My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #89. I saw quite a few Black Vultures (Coragyps atratus) in Virginia this week.

A Common Blue Damselfly:

I think this is a pair of Little Glassy Wing skippers:

This is a pair of Red-spotted Purples:

Here's Amelia!

Poor Amelia. She looks tired out. Did you take her on a long walk?

I'm sure your mockingbird was in post-breeding moult if it's late summer and fall where you live.

The vultures on the antenna look ominous. I'm always thrilled to see a blue-green damselfly. I like your skippers, they are a different color than mine but similar form. The ones that amaze me are the Florida ones with the long tails. The Red-spotted Purples are beautiful. Amelia must have had a lot of fun, she looks tuckered out.

Hello, I have not seen as many vultures around here. They must be there with you! I love the skipper and the damsel. And Amelia looks tuckered out, poor baby! Great critter post and images. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Have a happy weekend!

I bet that any vegetation near a golf course gets sprayed a lot with herbicides which is why there aren't many butterflies there...That was in response to a comment you left... I need to see if there are any ODES around...Michelle

Amelia obviously knows how to relax. Pretty dog!

Those vultures appear to like each others' company, that's for sure. Or maybe they are afraid they'll miss out on something if each go their own way. ;)

I often wonder if the birds have their own version of the avian Internet, where they all decide where and when to hang out. Amazing beings...what it must be like to have the ability to fly!
