My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #81. I'm also linking to Andyslens' Weekend Butterfly #04.
This is a Polyphemus Moth I found outside the basement door in W.V. early in June. Like the Imperial Moth (bottom of post), it was attracted to the light during the evening. (Still hoping to get Luna Moth pics someday...I've seen them twice there over the years.)
Here are a couple pictures I didn't take. First is from a dive boat friend of someone who comments at Eschaton:
And this is a picture my brother-in-law took off St. Thomas last month:

Gorgeous moth. I love seeing sea horses and turtles. Happy Critter Day!
Great shots of critters.
Beautiful pictures of moth, sea horses and turtle. Have a happy weekend!
Your critters are beautiful ! Great pictures !!
Greetings
The first time I saw a Luna moth, I was about 12 y.o. up in the NC mtns., posted on the kitchen window screen against a full moon. Scared the bejesus out of me.
I'm going diving in about 5-6 weeks. Those pix have me salivating to get back down. It's probably my favorite thing in the whole world!
I love the moth! It's HUGE. Have a wonderful weekend.
that´s a large and very beautiful butterfly. :)
A Polyphemus moth showed up mysteriously at my house a year or so ago, too. They must have a really wide distribution, but I wonder that I don't see them more. They are so grand in scale and design. The sea horses are so cute!
What a beautiful moth! I look forward to seeing your pic of a Luna Moth. We have some interesting moths in this country but lots are only found in the bush ('bush' is the NZ term for woodlands/forest)
Happy 4th of July for yesterday, thunder!
Thanks for the link up!
I don't think I've ever seen a moth that large.
Thanks for the suggestion about the link to 'Weekend Butterfly #04'.
Here's a link about seahorses.

Beautiful beautiful beautiful. What a splendid post.
The image of the turtle is really amazing!!
Love the title of your blog. Almost every photo you post here is something I would never get to see on my own. Wonderful to visit! Have to spend a bit more time. Curious about Theda. Maybe info already here. Happy Sunday :)
Amazing photos!
Thanks for coming by...I like the snake too. I very carefully uncovered him to make sure he was not poison. Then I knew why the frogs were so excited!
Have a great day.
The Polyphemus Moth is very large. Great photo of the turtle, (even though its not yours).
Great photo of the moth. I'm pretty sure I have never, NEVER seen one before. ;)
I envy the sea turtle experience; I adore them. I'm not knowledgeable about moths but we had a huge one out our window but couldn't see it well enough for an id. Yours is pretty cool.
I saw a Polyphemus moth last year for the first time, so neat! Would love to see a lunar! I hope you get your wish this year. Those underwater shots are great, thanks for sharing them!
Great varieties. I've seen a similar moth years ago at a park.
Thanks for dropping by :)
Beautiful moth!
The Moth is exquiste. Have a great week ahead.
Really wonderful.
Dood. You TOUCHED it?
EEEWWWWW!
Great shots of the different critters!
Beautiful patterns on the Moth wings.
Beautiful pictures, lovely close up shots
Oh, really big for moth,I could compare it with the hand :-) So sad I cannot find the butterfly related critters this year like the last year.
Sincerely from Japan, MIyako.
Moths are under rated..
