Carmi's Thematic Photographic 299 is Critters. Of course this is a difficult subject for me, but I shall persevere.
Ebony Jewelwing, Calopteryx maculata
And here's looking at you, too, Five-lined Skink:

Of course you have critters, that skink is beautiful.
Stunning critters at that. I envy you this set of shots, thunder. What colours!
wonderful shots! You must have an enormous amount of patience! I love that skink - AND its a threatened species! Now I have to go and find the difference between skinks and lizards!
Skinks are one kind of lizard (geckos are the other kind). Unless the cladistic classification guys have gone and changed all the rules again because DISRUPTIVE TECHNOLOGIES.
I always know when I need a friendly critter fix I come here! Stunning capture of the leaf I can nearly touch it!
Thanks, people!
P.S. Gilly, that the Five-lined Skink is threatened in the state of Connecticut...it's quite common elsewhere, for instance in West Virginia where I took that picture. (That wooden ramp goes up to our deck.)

Nice camera work with that jewelwing.
Looks like a new tail on that skink. What if humans could regrow limbs and such...
When I read what Carmi's theme was I knew we would get wonderful criiters from you. Thanks!
And maybe you can identify my lizard?
My mom has five-lined skinks in her garage and her front yard. They are such pretty little lizards.
The relative lack of lizards is one of the few strikes against New York.
I had a close encounter with an ebony jewelwing. They are really beautiful insects.
Ebony jewel is a fantastic name for a dragonfly - as beautiful as the skink.
