They're around here in Berkeley Springs all the time. But the Pileateds do try to avoid the paparazzi.
Here's one of my favorite local beetles:
Get your cameras ready, first in series of rare ‘blood moon’ eclipses begins April 15. This picture is from Saturday:

Can't wait until you photograph Ivory Bill, keep trying.
Pileated chased off my sapsuckers, one year, in N.TX.
One of the Pileateds was just outside the basement glass door, but it saw me reach for the camera and took off.

No blood moon for me. It was blocked by the lovely snowstorm that descended upon us last night.
Nuthatches are back this year, thundra! I know you have them all the time, but I've only seen there where I live 2 other years.
No blood moon for me.
Here neither. WET. Good beer and shite weather... might as well be living in Seattle.
Cool moon! I slept through the Blood Moon, but I knew others would post it! You do have some hungry friends, I always enjoy seeing them. As for our Mr. Woody-pecking-too-too much around here, they are keeping a person busy covering up entrances inside.
I got up at 4 AM on Tuesday to see if I could take pictures of the moon.
Not only was it not clear outside, it was pouring rain. Maybe next time!

Domestic Hectic Apoplectics have kept me too busy recently! Glad to catch up with you today

Just saying Happy morning to you, and I hope you have a blessed and Happiest of Easters tomorrow! Enjoy all.
Pileated woodpeckers are spectacular- they really stand out due to their size and coloration.
