My second post on Carmi's Thematic Photographic 211 - Weathered and Worn.
Here's an old shack in the woods. It's been collapsing since I first saw it in 1995, but it's still there.
These two Black Swallowtails are rather frayed, but they've still got some flowers to visit:

Yay Monarch! Looks still fresh out of the chrysalis... might be more weathered and worn when it reaches Mexico.
I'd say you're right, S.C.
This is a 4th generation Monarch.

This is the Maiden
All shaven and shorn
That married the cow
With the crumpled horn
That ate the dog
That killed the cat
That spilled the malt
And you can't have that
So they stoned the maiden
And burned her crops
They're a bunch of dicks
But they planted hops
So we gave them her land
And averted our eyes
Our socks have no sand
Hey - we're American guys...
Yes, I like those kinds of crumbling places, much of the magic still lingers.... great photos for your weathered and worn 2!
Great crumbly shack. And I admire you ability to take small wildlife without them vanishing as you click the shutter.
But your dog looks unweathered and
unworn! She is lovely!

I may have mentioned it before (hang on, lemme tighten the onion I have tied on my belt), but my dear old friend Jeff, who is no longer with us on this blighted planet, lived in Pacific Grove a block from the tree where all the Monarch Butterflies stop and hang out for a while. We'd walk down and watch them for a while, then go for lunch...
The beauty of weathered and worn is similar toWabi sabi.
All of those are lovely, thundra... for various reasons. When does your book come out?
Also, is Theda thinking about the road not taken?
You should sell the butterfly pictures. You have such a way of capturing them. Maybe an art show in your future?
Oooooooooooooooooooh
that's a lovely first image!
I agree with Carmi, you have the best butterfly shots-- ever. Your other photos are wonderful as well. Love the little yellow flowers.
