USA! USA! USA!

Wonkette just covered this breaking story of national import, but because I have a tag "the schaden freudes itself", I am compelled to recover it.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The sponsor of the law that made it legal to carry a gun into bars in Tennessee is facing charges of possession of a handgun while under the influence and drunken driving.

Rep. Curry Todd, a Collierville Republican, was pulled over in Nashville late Tuesday, according to court documents. Police said he failed a roadside sobriety test and refused to take a Breathalyzer test. A loaded .38-caliber gun was found in a holster stuffed between the driver's seat and center console.

A police affidavit said Todd was unsteady on his feet, "almost falling down at times." It concluded that Todd was "obviously very impaired and not in any condition to be carrying a loaded handgun."

Todd told officers that he had consumed two drinks when he was pulled over, according to the affidavit.

Another quote by Rep. Todd:
Todd asked a panel of prenatal health care officials if patients have to show proof of citizenship before getting state-funded help. One official replied that unborn children automatically become American citizens after birth.

Todd then remarked: "They can go out there like rats and multiply, then."

UPDATE: From mereoblivion in the Wonkette comments:
Attend the tale of Curry Todd
His face is flushed and he drives real odd
He packs his Wesson and zips through town
He'll get reelected next time around

Rep Todd is gracious when caught out too
"I am not going to try and be politically correct with everything I say," Todd said. "If I offended them I am sorry. But the truth is the truth. A spade is a spade."

Meanwhile, some nutbar gooper in Florida has this to say:

In a Waffle House in DeFuniak Springs, GOP state representative Brad Drake said he heard a constituent say, “‘You know, they ought to just put them in the electric chair or line them up in front of a firing squad.’” After a conversation with the person, Drake, 36, said he decided to file the bill.

“There shouldn’t be anything controversial about a .45-caliber bullet. If it were up to me we would just throw them off the Sunshine Skyway bridge and be done with it,” Drake said.
...
Squad members would be chosen by the warden of the prison housing the death row inmate. The bill does not specify whether members of the public may volunteer or may be chosen for the firing squad by the warden, but it does allow for Department of Corrections employees to opt out of taking a part in any execution.

How long before they get the idea to raise revenues by auctioning off permits to wingnuts, err gun enthusiasts, for participation privileges?

And those are some risk-eh? videos suggested on the sidebar of the video!

Meh. Dood's a lightweight.

Me and the boyz used to chew up 1500 mics of acid and wander 'round the ranch with full autos (I had an M2 carbine at the time that used to make everybody jealuous 'cause it was so cheap to shoot and had almost no recoil at all). Fun times!

More gun news from Florida.

He put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire.

There is a certain Darwinism that I cannot argue with, going on here

His approval rating probably went up 20% with his constituents.

That is his girlfriend's story and in the absence of any other witnesses she is sticking to it.

Can't we just partition off part of the country and give it to them to live as they wish with their guns and god and no regulations or taxes? Let them have their paradise already.
