A long time ago I grew one of those mango pits. They look like some kind of alien for the first couple months. It did not survive winter in NYC, though.
I added two new lists. One of them has avocado just above the bronze medalists, the other lists avocado as the Capo di tutti capi. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for.
P.S. I've bought kiwi fruit before, but as with the mango I've found it lacking in user friendliness. But recent research has revealed that including a spoon along with the paring knife in the process may yield better results. ~
Connie Barlow reckons that the mango is an ecological anachronism -- evolved for the seeds to be propagated by megafauna that humans killed off some 13000 years ago. Since the whole point of the fruit is to be swallowed by a ground sloth with the seed popping out later, there's no reason for the pit to separate neatly from the flesh.
I mention this for M. Bouffant's sake, with the giant ground sloth being his totem animal.
They probably grow better if you pass them through a large mammal's digestive system first, but bags not me.
My understanding is that most mango varieties don't grow true from seed, and you're better off buying a tree propagated vegetatively if you actually want to eat your own mangoes. I've read that Champagne mangoes are one of the few worth growing from seed, though, and they're fairly easy to find.
I have one of these, which though ~3' tall has a flower spike with fingernail-sized baby mangoes on it RIGHT NOW. I got the 1-gallon about a year and a half ago, it flowered last year, too, but no bee action because we had the crappiest, wettest spring ever. My plan is to never have to leave the boat.

I would like to know how a super high sugar fruit is useful in treating diabetes?
So, where's the banana breakdown?
Where's the apple breakdown.
Come on.
Now you've got me depending on you for this important information!

Thanks!

which one goes with cranberry vodka?
I'd guess the oranges and or the mango, ZRM. But maybe a smoothie made from all three would work, too.

Get the Valencia oranges for the smoothie. I love navels, but I don't think they lend themselves to the blender.
What did you do with the hairy mango pit?

ITTDGY is drinking Sierra Nevada.

He shaved it.

I'm planning on trying to grow this one, too.

Can you get the smaller mangoes with the all yellow skin in your area? I find those much more satisfying than those big huge rainbow skin ones.

I still haven't found the link I was thinking of
Worst U2 song EVAH.
to be propagated by megafauna
Then in the 19th century mangoes discovered sailing ships, and the rest is world history.
I want one of these in my town.
We just have the green and reddish ones at my local Kroger's, J—.
I cut up the second mango last night. I cheated and followed the directions, and got better results.

Also
I don't think I could possibly grow a mango tree to maturity in my apartment, tigris.
And even if I had a yard, it would not survive in Columbus.
Also.
I was going to say "tigris is banned" (as this is obligatory), but I might have to check out the mango splitter.

Band name!
Congrats on your baby mangoes, are you in California?
~
Massachusetts, hence the necessity of one good for pot culture. If you've got a south-facing window, you too could have an orangerie menagerie!
Looks like you manhandled that poor mango.

California is traditionally better for pot culture, although things might be changing.
bored with the mangos....let's move on.
Are you in, thunder?
Holy crap, that guy has his man-mangoes hanging out.
