My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #145. I went for a nature walk on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail on Thursday and was promptly greeted by Bambi.
Yesterday, I saw a Monarch Butterfly.
I'm also contributing to Anni's I'd-Rather-B-Birdin. Here's a mockingbird from my sister's backyard.
I passed this mockingbird on the trail. Usually they fly right off, but it kept singing to itself. So I got ready to record...and a string of bicycles came by. Then a plane from Dulles. Then more bikes, another plane...I was about to give up, and then there was a window.
Last but not least, here's Rory!

Hello, great sighting and photos of the deer. Love the Mocker and it's song. The Monarch is beautiful. Rory is a sweet dog. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critters. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!

Great shot of the deer in the path & glad your patience was rewarded with the sweet mockingbird song!
So glad you were able to record the Mockingbird song - so pretty!
Have a great week-end!
Deer = hooved vermin! They eat all my mom's herbs and flowers. But they are elegant creatures.
Adorei o bambi e o cachorro sempre lindo! abraços, chica
Hugs to Rory
who doesn't love Bambi and flutterbys
I used to love meeting deer on my walks when we lived at the Lake. Happy to see the Monarch doing well. And always a treat to see our old friend Rory.

You got me thinking if Alabama has Mockingbirds, I'll be flying there on Thursday and oh my goodness they do, and they even line dance. You've got to check this out!

Beautiful and cute critters. Love the deer and your fur kid, Rory. Have a happy Sunday!
Thank you for taking us on that lovely walk. Loved Bambi, the Mockingbird, its birdsong on the video and that pretty trail.
Bambi is very cool. So, since Rory is a blog star, I better get over to Costco for some new outside doggie beds! He's too handsome for the one he's on.
That is a very pretty doe. Rory has a lot of fans all over the world.
I haven't seen a monarch all year, which has me worried. There should be a national project to plant milkweed along highway medians throughout the country, and an effort to curb pesticide use... not to mention helping Mexico protect the overwintering grounds.
Also, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that one of our site mockingbirds does a great imitation of a car alarm.
Here's a local (literally, born & bred) Monarch.
BBBB, in my previous 'hood a mockingbird learned the digital sound of my alarm clock. Not loud enough to wake me, but amusing during the day.
Rory has the sweetest face.
hello, How wonderful to hear the song of the mockingbird♫♫♫ Lovely deer and gorgeous Monarch Butterfly and your sweet Rory must be looking at you(^_^)v
Sincerely, from Japan, Miyako*
you have them all. 2. 4 and 6 legged :) Nice!
It's a beautiful butterfly but nothing beats Bambi for me!! Nice captures!,
I saw three deer this weekend and not a single monarch.
A perfect walk! And Rory is so cute!
