I'm also contributing to TexWiscGirl's Good Fences #92. In spite of the fact that it's been warm around here and there's a big mowed field full of grass just down the mountain a bit, BAMBI!!! decided to push the fence protecting the mountain laurels down and munch away.

Hello, the bambi's here seem to leave the mountain laurel alone. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
I had heard they don't like mountain laurel.
Even plant experts have a hard time predicting a deer's appetite for different species: some declare mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia) poisonous to deer, others label it deer resistant, while still others put it among deer favorites.
I'm no expert at plants, but they sure go after these. Pretty annoying, since they grow so slowly. And these two that got munched were doing the best they ever have.

Oh no.... They have eaten things here they aren't supposed to like. I have two hydrangeas that I have tried to protect, but they are going to be replaced next season.... i noticed the other day that regular gas in nj is under 2.00 a gallon. that's dirt cheap. pretty rose, i hope you had a wonderful holiday!!!!!
