Things With Wings

Carmi's Thematic Photographic 307 is Birds of a feather.

There are plenty of birds around, as usual...but I don't have many interesting pictures of them. Here is a pair of geese on Lake Siri:

A White-breasted Nuthatch enjoying some suet:

More Lake Siri Odonata:

This is a Meadowhawk of some kind...perhaps an Autumn Meadowhawk?

Mouse over pics for captions, and click them for larger versions.

That's a nice goose photo - the water is lovely. And I like your nuthatch, upside down as they usually are!

Those mayflies must have taken an enormous amount of patience!

Damselflies are awesome- they'll even land on you and stick around for a while. Dragonflies are much, much shyer.

Gilly's right - the water is beautiful. And so are the geese!

Fabulous shots, thunder, as usual.

This was a theme I knew you would ace. Great damselflies.

Thanks, people!

It is true...the dragonflies and damselflies tend to be unwilling to sit for their closeups. Sometimes, it takes a lot of chasing them around.

Nice photos, I find it hard to get in close enough to get good bird photos.
