Saturday Night Moon Blog

First, the Potomac River just after sunset:

We didn't get to see the lunar eclipse here on the east coast. Nonetheless, the moon was still spectacular this evening.

In other news, there was yet another gooper debate tonight. It was amusingly live-blogged at the Guardian.
Having spent three days in Iowa at various election events, there seems to be little enthusiasm for any of the candidates and there did not appear to be much at this event either. I sat next to a WW2 navy guy exasperated with candidates on offer, muttering "God damn" at various points made by Gingrich, Santorum and Perry.

Santorum said he had served ... for eight years on the Senate armed services committee. As Santorum was leaving, the vet blocked the aisle and told him if he wanted bloodshed in Iran, he should put on a uniform and go there.

I love twilight (the time, not that other thing, dammit, that word has been permanently sullied in the consciousness of every single person under the age of thirty, forever, stupid pop culture), all those extra strata of purple & affiliated hues.

Your orb shots are better than mine. All I seem to get are representations of a loogie-coated lens.

Randal, ssshhhh! Just call it "avant garde" art.

Thunder, I hope you're not wasting those views. They should be enjoyed with a sweetie.

No, you know what? They're so pretty, I bet they'd be great to contemplate alone.

Purple sunset? Weeeeeeeeeeee!

The page seems to scroll funny (as in not very well) when I get to the picture table. Is anyone else getting that?

I might change it back to a column of big pics.

I'm not having any issues. At least none that relate to this blog.

I love the word, crepuscule.

Pretty pics, thunder! The moon in Columbus was pretty last night too!

I don't mind the word twilight. I have an 11 year old niece who is so infatuated with that series and she is way too cute about it for me to hate it.

I've never seen Twilight, meself, but then I'm not much for the TV and sell phone and other new-fangled devices you youngsters go on about.

If you were a lesbian I could call you a troglodyke.

Oh, how I wish you were a lesbian.

I splurged on some Mr. and Mrs. T at the store yesterday ($4.99 for 32 oz.!). Contemplating another taste test...

Now if it were my Sat. nite moon blog, it would be something else altogether—esp. if had a bottle of that hootch. @RG: my orb shots might be a wee bit fuzzy, too.

That is incredible. Gotta love it when a chickenshit chickenhawk gets called out.

No "Harvest Moon" references? Nothing about a change in the weather, or loving this time of year?

This blog USED TO HAVE STANDARDS.
