Ahhh... the deer orbs are relaxing... I just spent 8+ hours with crazed raccoons. That feeder damage is nothing.

At the time, I recalled that being a white-breasted nuthatch, Lisa. But now that I look at the top of his/her/birdie's head, I'm guessing you're right.

Probably a Downy Woodpecker.

Seems to me it's more of an intramural scrimmage, R.G. Raccoons versus birds, that is.

Exactly, BBBB. I wonder what would happen if I put that feeder back in the same place. Obviously there was a big pay from all the suet, but I'm guessing that critter rode the feeder down to a hard landing over 20 feet below...

I was kind of hoping it had been Hurricane Irene. Federal disaster relief for the thunder and his feeder!
