But we decide which is right...And which is an illusion.

From the Journal Sentinel:

Water samples taken above the electric barrier in the past year have yielded evidence of Asian carp all over the Chicago metropolitan area, but industry groups have questioned whether a positive sample means a live fish is in the area.

"It (environmental DNA sampling) has not been peer-tested and - even further - has been seriously questioned by many in the scientific community," said Mark Biel, chairman of UnLock Our Jobs.

From the New Yorker (10/25/10):

On June 22nd, a commercial fisherman working for the Illinois Department of Natural Resources netted a nineteen-pound-six-ounce bighead carp in Lake Calumet, thirty miles beyond the electric barrier and six miles from Lake Michigan. Between this well-fed, healthy male Asian carp and the Great Lakes no obstacle intervened.

But like The Decider on some other not really pressing issue, we're still waiting for the science to come in!

Why, that could have been someone's pet fish, J—.

Escaped during an exercise swim, or some such.

I'm so used to reading 3B's headlines... it seems like it should have been "Great Lakes Roe".

Frankly, I think all of the pet alligators that get released into the Chicago River will snarf up those carp.

Or, of course... we could put them all in the freezer. :) Even though Chicago is "fucking cold", it's not cold enough to freeze them. That carp czar is going to need a large styrofoam cup and a freezer.

Sheesh, liberals are always carping about something.

"Carp Czar crabby after being nettled by the stinging criticism of Cox for the Docks"

P.S. I thought that superbus video was pretty funny. And it's kind of like my driving, if you cut out most of the getting-out-of-the-left-lane parts.

Look, a sternly-worded letter to the carp should be enough, right?

If the letter doesn't work, there's always interspecies bipartisanship.
