Fire on the Mountain and Geese on Lake Siri

Carmi's Thematic Photographic 356 is Electricity.
I saw this when walking up one of the mountain roads on Sunday.

I also heard lots of sirens. Tuesday, I took a look at the source of that smoke. I heard an electrical problem is a suspect.

I'm also linking to Michelle's Nature Notes (#339).
These Blacknose Dace live in Warm Spring Run along with the guppies. (I tried to get a better picture of them, but they are quite wary.)

I was wondering how close the geese by Lake Siri would let me get...

Update: I'm also linking to Stewart's Wild Bird Wednesday 174. Here's Mrs. Downy Woodpecker at the suet feeder, and a Carolina Wren through the basement sliding doors.

I blame Carmi for the power cut we had this morning - no fire though.

A great series of photos. I especially like the geese all lined up along the lake.

Yes, those geese saw you coming alright! I can never take a picture through water because of the light refraction. Nice shot of the fish.

That's sad about the fire. Lovely goose shots - well done on getting them taking off like that.

I hope the fire didn't cause much damage to the place. Lovely picture of the fish in the water and the geese in flight!

The geese are nervous because they see so many people carrying big bird carcasses around these days...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Canada Geese here are as tame as anything! Must find a photo to prove it!! And that wren is lovely, but seems thinner and sleeker than our wrens.

I think your 'through the water' picture is great. It's difficult getting the right angle....you did well.

As for the wren, nice capture. We have 'em here, but I've not seen any...a special treat for me. And the Canada Geese, that brings back my youth in Colorado...we had them in our backyard. Wonderful.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I like the way that the geese are lined up on the bank - I think that fish photography is an undervalued genre!

Oh gosh...what that a house? That is terrible.... I made the photos bigger so I could see them better..The water looks so clear and you can really see.. I love how the geese line up along the edge.. It is good for the waterfowl to be wary of us...better safe than sorry...Michelle
