My contribution to Eileeninmd's Saturday's Critters #86. I hiked up to the top of Cacapon Mountain. The turkey vultures love hanging out on the power line poles up there, they can see down the clear cuts on each side of the mountain.
There are many different dragonflies zipping around Lake Siri lately, but most are not ready for their closeup. This little Halloween Pennant was willing to pose.
Butterflies love thistles!
And the Downy Woodpeckers appreciate someone putting out the suet feeder in the morning and taking it in at night so the raccoon doesn't get it.

Oh, such beautiful creatures !!!! I love them !!
Happy weekend !
You got superb shots of these beautiful critters.
Have a great weekend.
some times I wish I had the feet and legs of birds and other flying critters. It wound certainly be fun sitting on a pole like that :)
Really great captures. Have a wonderful weekend.
Great series of images. The Vulture looks like it is in charge, perched on top of the pole. I love the dragonfly and the Downy Woodie. Thank you for linking up and sharing you post. Have a happy weekend!
Gostei muito!Lindas! beijos,chica
Greast variety of shots for this meme. Have a lovely weekend.
Beautiful birds and dragon fly.
Fun captures of the dragonfly and butterfly! I like the variety.
Lovely images and such a variety! Happy Critter Day!
great dragon shots! always love when the vultures perch on the power poles (even tho it drives my dogs crazy.)
Great dragonfly photos!
Downy woodpeckers are some of my favs...they have such pretty coloration. We found a dead dragonfly and I got some close ups of it's wings...so lacy and pretty. Hugs!
That Halloween Pennant, it's lovely. And what a great name.
Those Halloween dragons are soooo beautiful, we have very few species with such decorative wings :)
Thanks for your comment on my blog :)
Keep well!
A lovely series of flying critters :)
Absolutely stunning, especially the dragons.
I hopped over from All About Purple, for a visit. I take 'pitchers' too. Look forward to following yours. Cheers -Mac
so many beautiful things to see in nature, especially this time of year!!!!
Such great captures. I was just outside and saw another dragon fly. I've never seen them before until just this year. I've never been able to get a picture. Thanks for sharing yours and coming by and meeting Chili Pepper. He is a darling. I really miss him. Have a great Sunday.
So many beautiful critters - the dragonfly is so colourful.
Love the dragon photo.... The others as well... Michelle
The Halloween dragonfly looks like someone painted his wings. The Swallowtail looks remarkably like the ones in my yard, but the thistle flowers are much larger. I've only seen a woodpecker at a suet feeder here once. The raccoons haven't seemed to find the feeder, or maybe it is hard for them to reach. Cute shots.
Very pretty varieties. Have a wonderful Sunday!
Do you ever get goldfinches on the local thistles? They tend to go together.
Also, you can peel the spines off the thistle stems and cook them- they are related to artichokes.
Belas fotografias.
Um abraço e bom Domingo.
I love the turkey buzzard and good on you for keeping the suet feeder for the birds.
Great shots - I can never get a dragonfly to be still - let alone a butterfly. Wonderful hike.
A beautiful shot of the butterfly!
Such beautiful critter photos!
Love the dapper vulture all in black tie garb! And the butterfly is dazzling.
Beautiful butterflies in your recent posts... and so many lovely aspects, also! A sunny day of august!
