Carmi's Thematic Photographic 266 is Let's get dirty.
Here's the compost heap out back. Somehow, no matter how many leaves, coffee grounds, and vegetable detritus I put here, no dirt builds up. I suppose it just gets washed down the mountain. At least it doesn't go into the landfill...
There's not much dirt in the parking lot, either. But we've got plenty of leaves.
Critter Time!
The flocks these days are more likely to have a Downey Woodpecker or two along with the Tufted Titmice, White-Breasted Nuthatches, and Chickadees.

That is certainly a great many leaves! Convincing evidence for 'fall' being a better name for the season you're having than 'autumn'...
I guess Lake Siri was too clean for this topic! ;)
Your compost is impressive! I've been saving my coffee grounds this year too! Wow what a leaf collection too ! I can hear the crack and crunch here!
Suet & Orbs!
Some of the scariest deer ever up in them woods. And, as always, great bird pics. You must have a great lens and be very stealthy.
Lake Siri looks beautiful when you capture the light reflecting off it, Alexia. Otherwise, it's kind of a big mud puddle.
Karen S., I'm about to clean out the fire place. Too many ashes in the way already this year, and they're pretty good in the compost.
Jim H., I have a tripod and a remote for the birds. The deer at night I get from the car...they're not afraid of cars (sadly enough).

Love the bird photos. Our compost is inside a large box. The use it on the garden at least twice a year. However our leaves go to waste as there are far to many to handle any other way.
I'm with Bob, a box or bin would keep that compost from washing down mountain. Love the titmice, they are so comical looking.
We get a lot of juncos with the change of seasons.
I do love looking at your birds - you have such interesting ones! Our birds are a bit think on the ground this year as there is such a lot of natural food around.
If those leaves are beech leaves they will take for ever to compost! But a bin is handy for other compost. Needs stirring occasionally, though.
