Let the Turkey Vulture Soar!
Here's the moon from last week.
Fall has been coming along nicely here on the mountain.
Baeolophus bicolor agrees!

"The Moon's the North Wind's cooky.
He bites it, day by day,
Until there's but a rim of scraps
That crumble all away.
The South Wind is a baker.
He kneads clouds in his den,
And bakes a crisp new moon that . . . greedy
North . . . Wind . . . eats . . . again!"
(thank you, Vachel Lindsay) also, thank you, Thunder. Nice, nice photos, as always.
It does look like it's coming along in a wonderful way. But as far as those scary Vultures, and other hungry soaring wonders, I do fear for the life of one of my dogs he's about 7 pounds and there seems to be a few too many hungry ones scouting about. Seriously! So I never leave his side outdoors!
Those are some ugly-ass birds. Once, playing golf in Alabama (Rob't Trent Jones Golf Trail!), I shanked a ball over a little rise toward some lakey water hazard. I was playing alone, staying in a cabin to draft a story while my boy was in Space Camp for the week. Anyway, I come driving up over this hill and see about a dozen of those big boys surrounding a big-mouth bass they'd apparently dragged out of the lake. Big fish. BIG birds. My ball was like ten or 15 feet from its dead, open mouth. The buzzards dispersed but didn't fly away. I quietly took my ball back to the fairway, took the stroke, and played on. FUGLY!
That deck looks perfect in the autumn for some sort of whiskey-colored adult beverage, or even a nice glass of red wine!
I can always find those vultures hanging out at the top of the mountain on the power line pylons.
P.S. Thanks for the poem, Li'l Innocent.

Not exact, exactly, but quasi-topical.
Who's been eating the moon?
There might have been a lot of dirt in my streetscapes - unfortunately I was in hospital and unable to find any dirt!!
Love the Turkey vulture. That looks one big bird!!
Love the way that bird is looking at me!
Those are big birds, Gilly.
S_McG, that's a leaf (either ash or maple) eating the moon.
