Thunder is the leading photographer of trash receptacles working today. His gift for capturing the nuance of the modern thermoplastic refuse container is truly unparalleled...

Yeah, I knew it was coming soon as I scrolled to "Friday tunes."

When I was young I saw all of the musical outfits mentioned; Beck & Zep on their first U.S. tours, even. Which doesn't prove much beyond how old & wretched I am now.

Even saw the Dreadful Grate at the very same WInterland, New Yr.'s Eve '72-3. Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen opened, & we had to sit through folk music suckwad Van Morrison before the Dead.

Ahh, Winterland. In spite of being somewhat ambivalent about concert going, I saw quite a number of shows there - Rory Gallager, Spooky Tooth (and later Gary Wright solo) are a couple of the...clearer memories. I remember trying to roll a joint while standing in the crowd - damn thing fell apart halfway through.

I also saw the first last Who concert at Candlestick Park. One of our party (I have no recollection today of who they were) was injured by fireworks...

There was, as it happens, for many years a venue on MY side of the Big Red Bridge (Sammy Hagar: "There's a red bridge across the bay/You could be at my place in less than a day") called "Uncle Charlies". It was in a little shopping mall in a community called Corte Madera (being able to pronounce that correctly was the key indicator that you were a native Marin-ite). And an amazing number of famous and semi-famous and not-yet-famous acts would play that stage. I was there a LOT...

Ya know, looking back at my comment, I think the better joke would have been "Sometimes an orb's just an orb."

What a sweet dog. Plus it looks like your carpets might not be much cleaner than mine. Makes me feel good.
