Sunny Day in German Village - part 3

Mouse over pics for captions, click on pics for larger views.

Monarch butterflies (Danaus plexippus):Monarchs have up to four generations each summer, each one traveling a little further north than the last. The last generation of the year migrates south.

This Monarch may have waited a bit too long to head on South for tequila and umbrella drinks, given what happened to our temperatures this week. But at least the October flowers of German Village were a treat.

Do you have a picture of the girl with umbrella statue? I've heard about that....am curious.....

Thanks, g!

Von, that statue is in Schiller Park, which is further south into German Village than I normally walk.

But now I have something for the photography 'to do' list. And a nice walk it will be, if/when we get nice weather again.

The fascist flowers of German Village. Regimented & lined up next to bldgs. & behind fences.

What have they done to the earth? What have they done to our fair sister? Blah blah ...

And where's your left foot been recently?

Mandos, my left foot has not been nearly high enough lately to deserve a photo.

I'm sorry to say.

Beautiful, beautiful shots, thunder! Also, I have been contemplating the phrase "home invasion" and I am not sure I am comfortable with it!

Hi BG, that was something I recall hearing about when I first moved here back in 2006 (officially, I started my job here on 12/31/2005).

Anyways, people do have security company signs everywhere. But I wonder if there's a statistical difference if you're out in the burbs?

If I was moving to Columbus, and not having a care about schools for the kids, I'd have those nice brick homes downtown high on the list.

P.S. I did go to Schiller Park yesterday and take pictures of Umbrella Girl, along with a "Blessing of the Dogs" event that was going on. It was overcast, in contrast to today, so we'll see how these various pictures turned out. (Which means I went back today, sunny, and took more.)

Bricks and flowers I understand but who is Jennifer?
Those Monarchs are beautiful - I wish we saw them here.

Stunning flowers, foliage, trees - and (my favourite) butterflies. Oh, and some nice bricks there, too!
;)

Great selection of shots.

Thanks for the delightful journey through autumn and bricks and mortar and most lovely blossoms scattered about!
