Velvet ants have the nickname cow killer, A.K.

I've seen cicada killers before, but never a velvet ant.

I do not know what that beetle is. I couldn't tell if those little wing remnants were the result of getting chewed, or if that's the way they're supposed to look.

But he/she/it/beetle was resolutely trucking across the sand, leaving beetle prints in its wake.
