Night Time Mystery Noise

Carmi's Thematic Photographic 368 is Night. For a week or so, I've been hearing a noise (not everyday) outside the window: Woo Woo Woo WOOHOO woo!" At first I suspected raccoons or possums, as there seemed to be several of them (whomever) running around on the ground. And no rodents I know make a noise anything like that.

Of course, neither do raccoons or possums. An owl couple? It happens between 2:30 and 4:30 A.M. Anywho, I wanted to try for a picture, but no chance of that practically speaking. So here's the birdie bush at night:

I'm also contributing to Michelle's Nature Notes (#353):

I do not like mystery noises at night! Especially if I'm alone in the house. Luckily, Manu is a great watchdog.
I do like your cardinal, and the sparrow.

I too don't like mystery noise at night! I am a very curious person and I would want to know what or who makes that noise.

Never tried photographing a noise!! Didn't come over to me, so can't suggest anything! But love the other shots, especially the cardinal.

By the way, your link on Carmi's site doesn't work.

Love the cardinals. I'm always fascinated watching them and admiring those wonderful colors.

For several years we have had a "mystery" sound at night too. We only hear it when the weather is warm and it seems, on moonless nights. We know it's some sort of animal and hopefully will find out what it is this year. My husband bought a night motion camera. Our noise is a growling sound that you can hear coming our way from a walking path about 402.336 meters away.

Nice nature photos!

Cats are the things that make noises at night round here and the odd owl now and again. Like the birds you show.

Oh my goodness, this is funny, I always love a good mystery. Seems I have to get a night photo together too, I totally missed that Carmi posted a theme! Yikes.

We have wind chimes, too! No cardinal, though!
