Don't think I would like to tangle with the hornets, but your dogs are a different all together - I almost forgot to look at the fences.

How fun for your dogs to have such a wonderful run in the yard. Keep those hornets away!

Hornets and bees have been busy in my world too! Now is this your actual yard as of right now? Not one flake of snow. Really? Truly? Did you hide it?! Nearly our entire month of November was all SNOW! Yikes..........!

What a fantastic nest? Do hornets chew wood like wasps? And can I have that tiny black dog if no one wants it???

My daughter is a great cook - especially of cakes! :)

The wolf dogs have a wonderful space to play, run and romp:-) This could also be used for the beautiful gates of Theresa (TexWisGirl)

Yes, they chew the wood and make "paper" that they fashion those big nests from. They are big, aggressive wasps.

A couple of years ago, I found a nest bigger than my head behind one of our buildings- as luck would have it, it was a week before an event, right by the children's activity area.

At midnight, the time of our shift change, I asked my co-worker to shine a powerful flashlight on the nest, and I grabbed a long pole and hit the nest like a piñata. The two of us ran like hell, but the hornets, being diurnal, couldn't find us. That blow basically destroyed the nest, but every hour and a half, I'd give the remains a whack and run, just to make sure it was all gone before a bunch of kids were going to be playing nearby.

And that's the story of how I almost singlehandedly destroyed a prosperous, orderly community. Oh well, couldn't have a bunch of parents of stung children suing.

Wouldn't want to mess with hornets. Wolfhounds are big dogs. I liked that last shot.

That hornet home isn't huge, it was in a small tree. I have another pic of a great big one up in a large tree.

strange to see a hornets nest in a tree. Must be very unusual.
