Here are a couple more pictures my brother-in-law took in St. John. These squid won't let you get much closer without squirting black ink and jetting away:
Here's a couple of my own from the backyard. I thought chippie was getting most of the seeds. Wondered how he or she could eat that many. The other day, I saw that there are two of them (at least).

I have some flower pics, too. These Ashburn tiger lilies are growing wild on the Washington and Old Dominion Trail.

But they don't have triple blossoms, like several patches I walk by in D.C.

How about a bee?

ReplyDeleteAwww...love the chipmunk!
ReplyDeleteSpent about 20 minutes with a squadron of Caribbean Reef Squid while snorkeling once in Turks & Caicos. They were down about 15+ feet. I would free dive down and get closer to them to observe their behaviors. They moved in unison, changing shapes, colors, & swimming directions almost on cue. They knew we were there and were watching us as intently as we were watching them. We decided it was a couple parents and 4 young squidlets out for an adventure. Tho' we dove with black tip reef sharks and spotted eagle ray on that trip, this close encounter was an absolute highlight.
ReplyDeleteI loved being able to go and snorkel when we were on vacation in the ocean... Lucky Chippy....Michelle
